Makeup for hazel eyes

I think that hazel eyes are so cool looking, and the colors that really make them pop are browns, deep greens, gold, peach, and purple.  This look was fun to do because I wanted to put all these colors together some how.  It is very colorful and it really enhances hazel eyes!
How I got this look:
1. Prime with eye primer.
2. Put a deep green on the inner corner and below lower lash line.
3. Sweep gold on eyelid.
4. Use a chocolate brown on the outer corner blending it towards the crease.
5. Put a purple in the crease blending up.
6. Use black eyeliner.
7. Apply mascara.

And there you have it!

Makeup for green eyes

Want gorgeous green eyes?  I know just how to get them!  Again, I did a monochromatic and a complementary look.  Monochromatic colors are colors that are on the same color scheme such as sage, moss, forest green, and green-golds.  Complementary colors are the colors that are on the opposite side of the color scheme such as purple, pink, mauve, and rose.

Makeup for blue eyes

Somebody requested that I did different makeup looks for certain colored eyes.  Every day, I am going to show you the best colors to wear for blue, brown, green, and hazel eyes.   Today I am going to start with blue eyes.
As a blue-eyed girl, I used to think that the only colors that would look best are browns.  That is not the case.  There are many colors that you can wear, not just for blue eyes but for any color of eye.
I am going to start off by telling you what monochromatic and complementary is.  Monochromatic color scheme consists of different shades and tints of one single color.  Monochromatic colors for blue eyes can be navy, a blue-based grey, or silver.
Complementary colors are colors that are opposite of the color wheel.  Complementary colors for blue eyes are brown, copper, rust, orange, and peach.

Monochromatic

How I got this look:
1. Prime eyes with eye primer.
2. Sweep eyelid with a navy color up to the crease.
3. Blend a blue-gray on the crease and add this color along lower lash line.
4. Use a silver shimmer on brow bone and inner corner of the eye.
5. Put a navy eyeliner on the above the top lash line and bottom water line.
6. Apply black mascara to both top and bottom lashes.

Complementary

How I got this look:
1. Prime eyes using eye primer.
2. Sweep eyelid using a peachy rose color.
3. Blend a chocolate brown from the outer corner of the eye all through the crease.
4. Mix a copper and peach, apply it in the inner corner and below bottom lash line.
5. Use and neutral shimmer on the brow bone.
6. Put brown liner on eyelid and water line.
7. Apply black or brown mascara on lashes.

Be sure to follow my blog because next I am going to do makeup for brown eyes!

Nails on a budget

Hey Ladies!
I went to the dollar store yesterday to get some Puffs tissue (I have been sick for the past 4 days) and I always walk in the beauty aisel to see if something catches my eye.  Sure enough there was haha.  In the fingernail section I came across the Art Deco Nail Art by L.A. Colors.
It has a long precision brush that you find in a salon and it is so easy to apply.  I have seen them at some drug stores but I wasn't going to pay that much for them.  At the dollar store, they were only $1 each!
I got three different colors that I thought were a must.  The colors are black, intense pink, and silver glitter.  They only had 5 or 6 colors there but according to their wesite they have 48.  I don't think you can buy any of them at the website but I put up a link so that you can check out the colors.
I wish that the picture turned out better, but I find it difficult to take a good picture of nails.  On the four dark nails, I painted them black applying two coats. I used the intense pink and put lines on each nail.  Then I put the silver glitter between the pink lines.  I did the same with the ring fingers, only painted them white, putting black lines on them, then doing the same with the silver glitter.  I am thinking about switching the colors because I think that I like the white fingernail better!  I did my toes in the black with pink stripes and it looks really good but I didn't want to take a picture of my feet haha.
I can't wait to try different designs, I think it will be a lot of fun!

Applying eye makeup for glasses

Some people who wear glasses find it difficult to determine the best way to wear eye makeup.  I think it is because some eyeglasses create an optical illusion making eyes seem smaller or larger than what they are.  Look in the mirror to determine the size of your eyes behind your glasses.  I am going to show different ways to wear your makeup.

If you appear to have smaller eyes, apply a light eyeshadow of your choice unto the eyelids then highlight your brow bone.  Apply white eyeliner onto your water line. Put a thin line above your lash line up top with a dark eyeliner.  Put the same dark liner just below your lash line on the bottom, this will make your eyes look much bigger.  Use a voluminous mascara and try to stay away from the lengthening kind so that your eyelashes don't touch your glasses.

If you appear to have larger eyes, apply a dark eyeshadow of your choice unto the eyelids. Apply dark eyeliner above the lash line up top and not on bottom but if you do, put it on the water line (I have to put it on because my water line has eyeliner tattooed). Apply voluminous mascara, this is optional because mascara really opens your eyes making your eyes appear larger.

Don't forget to add some color to your shaped eyebrows.  If you want, add plenty of color to your lids to really bring out your eyes if your glasses are rimless.

Hope this helps!

How to: look alive when sick

Today isn't a very good day for me because my allergies are terrible.  When I am sick I just want to lay around the house without any makeup on but today I have to run errands so I thought that I would do a makeup look to help you look much better when sick.
Here are some steps to looking alive!

1. Moisturize your dry areas like the chin and around the nose.
2. Put some foundation on your hand and use a disposable sponge so that you don't spread germs back into your foundation container.
3. Spread foundation all over your face.
4. Get some concealer and spread it on your eyelids, underneath eyes, around the nose, and your chin if needed.
5. Sweep a little bronzer on your cheeks and temples so you don't look pale.
6. Dab a light shimmery color over your eyelids. (optional)
7. Apply eyeliner, curl your lashes then add mascara to make your eyes look open.
8. Use a tinted chap stick for your lips

Before..

After:

Products used:
Foundation: Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse in Nude Beige
Concealer: Dinair Corrective in Alabaster
Bronzer: Rimmel London Natural Bronzer in Sun Light
Eyeliner: Almay Intense i-color in Black Pearl
Mascara: mark. Scanda-lash in Black
Lips: Maybelline Baby lips in Peach Kiss

It is always good to wear a bright shirt and pretty earrings when your feeling under the weather so you look like a ray of sunshine!

To practice safe sun!

There are a number of reasons why I don't like laying in the tanning bed.
1. I DO NO want skin cancer
2. No babysitter
3. Uncomfortable
4. I don't like to lay in a puddle of my own sweat
5. Don't have the time
6. I don't want to look like the New Jersey tanorexic mom...

I am planning on laying a few times and even though I dread it, I am doing it so that I don't get burned to a crisp when we go on vacation.
But, for all of you who don't lay in the tanning bed or want some color all year round, here are a few safer alternatives.
It seems that most people that I know rave about Jergens Natural Glow.

I do like this, but it gradually builds your tan.  It may just be me but I am impatient and want to see me tan right away haha.  It is very affordable though at only $7.87 and really easy to get because it is at almost any drugstore.

I have the Sun Labs Ultra-Dark tanning lotion.
This comes out to be a very pretty color but it seems that it has more cons than pros.  In my opinion it takes awhile for it to dry and it is really hard to get it even on your wrists, hands, ankles, and feet.  It does smell really good though, like cherry almond!!  I get mine at Ulta beauty for $36.50, but you may be able to find it cheaper on Ebay.

Yesterday I got my order for St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse and Application Mitt.
I used it for the first time last night and I must say, I think that I like it the best so far.  It doesn't have that awful fake tan smell, it dries super fast, and it has an application mitt that makes it really easy to get it even all over.  The only things that I found wrong with it is that you may have to apply it again a couple of days later if you desire to be a little darker, and you can't even get a drop of water or sweat on you for four hours because it will come off.  Last night after applying, I got a drop of water on my shin from the baby's bottle and I had a thin white line all the way down to my foot haha!  I ordered mine off QVC for $36.50 and signed up for the auto-delivery so I can be tanned all year round.  I put up a link that will take you to QVC's website, and they have a video on there from when it was on t.v.

As a fake bake pro, I have picked up a few tips here and there on how to achieve the perfect glow, and want to share them with you!
1. Take a shower, shave your legs and exfoliate all over
2. Put a little light moisturizer on your dry areas like elbows, knees, and ankles to keep them from looking patchy.
3. Open the bathroom door, let some steam out, and wait a little while to let your pores close.
4. Focus on one area of your body at a time.
5. Wait at least 15-20 minutes before getting dressed in clothes that you don't care to have the color on.
6. If you can, do this before going to bed so that you have all night for your color to fully develop.
7. In the morning if you have areas that are overdone, try scrubbing the exfoliater on it.

Now you are on your way to achieving that perfect glow.  I hope that this helps.
Happy tanning!

That awkward moment...

I always feel like a complete dork taking pictures of myself.  It just feels so awkward and you hope that nobody is watching haha!  I love doing makeup looks but I hate taking the pictures afterwards.  I did a makeup look last night for my new facebook page and I was in a hurry because the basketball game was on, and my little one was throwing a fit.
It is a very simple look and I wanted to use mostly Mark products.  Here it is!
Here are the products that I used for this look

Foundation- Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse in Nude Beige, Rimmel Stay Matte pressed powder in Natural

Eyes- mark Cushy Clement, mark Dusk Aube, mark Fairy Dust, Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips gel eyeliner, Loreal Extra Volume Collagen mascara, Revlon Fantasy Lengths eyelashes in Intensifying

Brows- mark Sepia

Cheeks- mark Sunlove Glo, Physicians Formula Mineral Glow Pearls in Natural Pearl

Beauty from a berry?

Most people want healthy skin, but I am going to tell you right now that you can not get it from drinking pop!  I stopped drinking pop 5 months ago, and that was one of the best choices I have made.  I drink water all the time and as a former Dr. Pepper addict, I wanted something with a lot of flavor haha!  I started doing research on the acai berry and was amazed of all the benefits you can get from it.
The acai berry can be found on Acai palm trees which is located in the rain forests of the Amazon in Brazil.  Now known as a "Superfood", for hundreds of years the tribes of the Amazon have been using this berry exclusively in their diet to live long and healthy lives.  They discovered that it improved their immune system and the more they took it, the more benefits they discovered.
The acai have a number of vitamins in them and it slows the aging process of your body, skin, and brain!  I started drinking the juice, about a cup a day and noticed a difference almost immediately.  My face got a lot clearer, skin was more radiant, and my hair was shiny.  My husband even saw a difference!  It also seemed that I got a good nights rest but that could also be from healthy diet and exercise.  I get my juice from Wal-Mart and even though it is a little pricey, it is well worth it!  Off to go get some more!

Everyday must haves

I was thinking earlier about some of the things that are a MUST when it comes to my beauty collection.  Some days I don't wear makeup because I like to give my skin some rest, as we all should, but if I am just going to throw something on when I don't feel like getting all dolled up just to go to the store this is what I use:
I love it because it makes your lashes long and full, yet it is such a clean look for daytime!

Just a dab of this blush will leave you looking glowy.  I have the Rose Pearl shade and it goes on smooth and blends well!

Last but not least: Maybelline-Baby Lips

This is my fave product, I love this stuff and it goes with me everywhere.  I even put it on before I go to bed!  It leaves your lips feeling so amazing and it actually does what it says.... Gives you back the lips you were born with!  I have it in every color and flavor exept for the Grape Vine.  I don't think that tint would look very good with my skin tone.

Well, I do think that it is time for me to go to bed now and I hope I did okay with my first blog (and that somebody will actually read it!) haha
I had a lot of fun doing it! :)
